House Full of Junk!

Do you have a bunch of junk that you need to get rid of? Whether it be in your house or a house you want to get rid of, you do have options!

If you are served by Waste Management, you can get a Bagster from your Big Box home improvement store like Home Depot or Lowes.  That allows you to unfold the bag and start throwing approved trash in the bag.  I’ve used this service several times and it’s nice for those spur of the moment purges. At your convenience, you can setup a pick up with WM.  That will cost you roughly $150-$200, but you can only fit a relatively small amount of junk or trash in there. The Bagster bag is available in one size only. It can hold 3 cubic yards/606 gallons of debris and is strong enough to hold up to 3,300 lb. The bag is 8′ long by 4′ wide by 2’6″ tall, big enough to hold full sheets of plywood or drywall.

If you have more junk to get rid of, you should consider a dumpster if you want to remove the junk yourself.  A dumpster, depending upon the size, will run you $300 – $600. We typically order 10-15 yard dumpsters for small clean outs. If you have a lot of rooms that need cleaned out, just go for the 30 or 40 yard dumpster if you have the space to drop it.

If you need someone to do the clean out, you will spend anywhere between $1,000 and $6,000, from our experience.  That includes the haul away or dumpsters. If you use some of the companies that are advertised heavily like Jurassic Junk, or 1-800-GOT-JUNK, you’ll definitely pay more. There are local companies that can do it for less money, but there are also guys with no insurance that are not reputable. Buyer beware!
